A round of Applause for December!
Hello artists and art-lovers! We’ve had a great November here at AP. We’ve welcomed a wonderful variety of new artists, we’ve been featured in Limelight Magazine and The Age, and we’ve just added a couple of new features to the site: gift subscriptions and an events calendar (see below for all the info!)
We are repeatedly surprised and impressed by what artists are bringing to the table in terms of philanthropy rewards. We have writers offering to workshop the subscriber’s own work and social media practices, and some wonderful offers to redeem works of art in exchange for philanthropy. One artist is also offering a gift lottery! It is this type of creativity and engagement that will be the future of arts funding.
This month’s blog post talks a little bit about the Australian social conscience in the context of artist income tax and funding artists’ down-time. The post was sparked by user comments on a SMH article a few weeks ago, and I believe it’s important to continue putting a positive arts message out there.
To finish, a special shout-out to AP artist Michael Dooley who has just won ‘Best Music for Children’s Television’ at the Apra/Amcos 2019 Screen Music Awards. His score to Pilgrim’s Progress screened in over 800 theatres worldwide, and he is also the Canberra Critics’ Circle artist of the year 2019. Congratulations Michael!
Wishing AP artists and philanthropists a wonderful festive season!

This month, Armchair Philanthropy is featured in Limelight Magazine. It will be on the shelves in a few days so please grab a copy and read about the inspiration behind creating this initiative, and how we hope it will change the arts funding landscape.
We were also thrilled to speak to Arts reporter Andrew Stephens from The Age, in a report focusing on taking a new approach to arts funding. Take a look…
December is now upon us and AP is excited to announce a brand new feature: Gift Subscriptions.
Anyone purchasing a subscription now has the option to add a gift name to the purchase, so the artist will know who to thank.
By philanthropising artists this Christmas, you can make the holiday more meaningful and more beautiful while also keeping all the usual packaging and mass-produced gifts out of landfill.
Subscriptions start from just $12.50/month and there are no contracts, so you can cancel at any time.
Your gift gives twice: you’re giving to the artist and your recipient, and don’t forget, your lucky recipient will also get the thanks from the artist. So, that’s, like, thrice. Right? It’s easy, it’s quick and it’s beautiful.
As a true philanthropy and arts web destination, we wouldn’t be complete without a calendar showing what all our artists are up to. Please take a look and add your event!
